About NUBiP

National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine is one of the leading educational, scientific and cultural establishments of Ukraine. Over 37ths students and more than 600 PhD, Doctoral students and Students-seekers are studying at 21 faculties of Kyiv Territorial Center, at Southern Affiliate "Crimean Agro-Technological University" and at 12 regional higher educational institutions of l-lll accreditation levels.
Over 3000 scientific-pedagogical and pedagogical staff including 300 Professors and Doctors, more than 1200 PhDs and Associate Professors provide educational process and scientific research at NUBiP of Ukraine.

Educational activity of the university has public character and is protected from interference of political parties as well as public and religious organizations.

Conception of NUBiP of Ukraine Education Activity:

• Access to higher agricultural education for persons who meet the requirements of professional selection (competition) considering the available privileges for village youth, especially those, who live in zone polluted after disaster at Chernobyl nuclear station;
• Equal conditions for every student, listener, PhD student. Doctoral student with the aim of complete realization of their abilities, gift, comprehensive development of individual;
• Open character of educational establishment, creating the preconditions for choosing forms and profiles of education;
• Priority of human spiritual values, humanism and democracy of educational process;
• Logical unity and continuity of educational process, integration of educational activity, science and production;
• Meeting the world requirement to education;
• Open character of competition and contracts for substitution of vacant positions for heads of departments, deans, professors, associate professors and other scientific and pedagogical employees.

Main Tasks of NUBiP of Ukraine Educational Activity

• Creating conditions for development of intellect, abilities and skills of individual, revival of intellectual potential of society;
• Forming professional knowledge, abilities and skills of students of the quality not lower than state educational standards;
• Educating of a socially mature and physically healthy person ready to life and activity in conditions of market economy, according to the best traditions of national and world culture;
• Involving students into scientific research in spheres of agro-industrial complex, solving social and economic problems of rural territories development, implementation of scientific developments into production;
• Training, retraining and capacity building of pedagogical, scientific and pedagogical staff, specialists of agro-industrial complex;
• Preparation and publishing books, manuals and other scientific and methodical literature, including electronic issues;
• Dissemination of scientific and technical knowledge and advanced experience among employees of agricultural sector of economy, improving of their educational and professional level.

Educational Activities

National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (NUBiP of Ukraine) is a type of research institution, which conducts with educational, research, scientific -innovation, education and production, information and advisory activities aimed at developing the science of contemporary issues of life and environment, use , restoration and sustainable development of biological resources in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, introduction of new environmental and agro-biotechnology, technology recovery and security of soil fertility, agricultural technologies of energy saving, environmental and legal management in rural areas, monitoring and control of standards, quality and safety of agricultural products, products of its processing and environment.

More than 3 thousand of educational-research and teaching staff are working and more than 38.5 thousand of students are studying at the thirteen education and research institutes of the University (Kyiv), Southern Branch "Crimean Agrotehnological University" and 12 separated structural subdivisions of NUBiP of Ukraine.

As a result of ranking among agricultural higher educational institutions of III-IV accreditation levels National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine has always first place.

University activity is aimed on satisfaction of educational needs of human society and the state under the Constitution of Ukraine, Law "On Education", "On Higher Education", "Regulations on higher educational institution” , "Regulations on the organization of educational process in higher educational institutions".

Educational activities at the university has a secular nature, protected from interference of political parties, civic and religious organizations.
The concept of educational activities of NUBiP of Ukraine is determined by its status as a national higher educational institution of research type, whose main objective is further integration into the world educational system.

NUBiP of Ukraine as a higher educational institution was once more accreditated by IVth level (certificate of accreditation number RD-IV # 119520 from 17.06.2009, the license of the MES of Ukraine AB # 482317 from 22.07.2009) and has rights to specialists training by such educational and qualification levels:

• Junior specialist — by 30 specialties;
• Bachelor — by 28 directions;
• Specialist — by 26 specialties and more than 50 specializations;
• Master — by 40 specialties and more than 100 specializations.

Training by such directions as “Veterinary Medicine”, “Plant Protection”, “Ecology, Environmental Protection and Balanced Nature Management”, “Biotechnology”, “Management” (selective component for specialty “Management of Foreign-Economic Activities”), “Finance and Credit”, “Accounting and Audit” and «Philology(translation)» for particular groups of students most subjects are teaching in English.

Science

Scientific activity of University scientists directed on the carrying-out of basic researches and search and applied, and research and design developments in the field of plant and animal biology, biotechnology, chemistry, applied mechanics and physics, ecology, economics, pedagogics, etc., namely: identification of patterns of occurrence of agroindustrial complex of Ukraine in the market, development of effective genetic-selection models of creation of high-yield adaptive varieties of crops and biotechnological methods of microclonal reproduction of plants; the usage of nanotechnology in the agricultural production; improvement of existing and developing new methods of breeding and rapid withdrawal of animal genotypes; the development of environmentally friendly resource-saved technologies of production, storage and processing of crop and livestock production; theoretical and experimental substantiation of health care systems of animals; creation and implementation in production of new technologies for complex mechanization, electrification and automation of agricultural production; theoretical substantiation of increasing of productivity of forest ecosystems and optimization of regional forest-agricultural landscapes; development and introduction in the educational process of higher agricultural institutions of innovative pedagogical technologies; the implementation of innovative activity in science, education and agricultural and environmental spheres.

University scientists are conducting researches in the following areas:

• Biologization of agriculture;
• Protection of nature and sustainable development of society, biotechnology;
• Quality, biosafety, certification and standardization of production technologies of agricultural and food products;
• Economics, Marketing, Management;
• Mechanization, electrification and automatization of agricultural production;
• Rationalization of social development in rural areas;
• Development of new systems of information and advisory support.

Scientific researches by the budget, contractual and initiative categories were conducted by 1777 scientific and scietific-pedagogical staff, including 296 doctors and professors, 1104 associate professors and candidates of science. Among scientists - 2 Heroes of Ukraine, 2 academicians of National Academy of Sciences and 22 academicians of Academy of Agrarian Sciences, 31 corresponding member of NAS of Ukraine and the Academy of Agrarian Sciences, 1 corresponding member of APS of Ukraine, 56 members of the public academies, 25 Honoured Scientist of Ukraine, 38 Honoured educators, 3 Honored members of high school, 5 Honoured Inventors of Ukraine, 5 Honored Economists of Ukraine, 2 honored doctors of Veterinary Medicine of Ukraine, 2 Honoured members of Veterinary Medicine of Ukraine, 1 honored forester of Ukraine, 4 Honoured Lawyers of Ukraine, 4 Honored Workers of Culture of Ukraine 1 Honored Master of Folk Art of Ukraine, 32 high achievers of Agricultural Education and Science of Ukraine, 64 high achievers of education of Ukraine, 10 masters of Sport of Ukraine, 1 Honoured Worker of Transport of Ukraine, 1 honored power engineer of Ukraine, 2 Honored Artists of Ukraine, 1 National Artist of Ukraine.

In the performance of researches also participated 26 doctorates, 532 postgraduates, more than 50 workers of research and scientific stations and education-research farms.

In order to further development of scientific and research work, performance on a high professional level of state research projects in the NUBiP of Ukraine structure new objects were created - Scientific and Research Institute of Power Systems and Education-Research Institute of Standardization and quality of food technology. They are for staffing and for material and technical equipment are the most powerful structure of such profile among agricultural universities in Ukraine.

Recognition of university scientists at the international level

• Melnychuk D.O. ─ rector of University, academician of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Academy of Agrarian Sciences, awarded the honorary doctorate of Moscow Agricultural Academy named after Timiryazev for productive scientific and social work;
