From 2016, National University "Odessa Maritime Academy" is the successor of the Odessa National Maritime Academy.
NU "OMA" has all the necessary equipment, methodological support and human resources for the training of graduates, in accordance with the requirements of the International Convention on Training and Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), taking into account the Manila amendments, 2010.
Curricula and programs include a bachelor all kinds of mandatory training for the issue of first diplomas person commanders and training programs and master's degrees allow the presence of the relevant work experience in senior command positions (captain, chief engineer) on ships. At the Center for training and certification of seafarers of the University created the conditions for the effective training of seafarers. Training programs are accredited by the Marine Institute of the University of the UK (NI) and the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST). System of training and certification of seafarers in Ukraine, approved by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the European Association for Maritime Safety (EMSA), which allows university graduates to work in various foreign companies, including those on ships under the flags of the European Union. Availability of scientific schools, postgraduate and doctoral studies, specialized academic council for defense of theses, issue collections of scientific works of the University allow effective preparation of highly qualified personnel: doctors of philosophy and doctors. The Quality Management System is certified for compliance with the University of International Standard ISO 9001: 2008 Shipping Register of Ukraine.
In the cadet's town of NU "OMA", we have : crew (hostel), a dining room and a snack bar, a sports complex, a modern medical center, its own gas boiler. The NU "OMA" has all conditions and facilities for physical culture and sports: Olympic class swimming pool, game and exercise rooms, a mini-stadium, water station on the beach.
In 2015, more than 900 students of NU "OMA" (without separate subdivisions) went swimming practice on ships of 130 companies in the world. Every year more and more shipping companies in Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Norway, France, Singapore, Japan and other major maritime nations prefer graduates of our university. All graduates of the OU "OMA" successfully employed to command positions on vessels, enterprises, companies and organizations in the marine industry.
At National University "Odessa Maritime Academy" Education is provided in Russian and English languages.
